Emergence Of Slow Stories
November 17, 2016
One of my great joys is to attend Awakin Circles in different homes.
Today, it was at Rachana's home in Baroda. In an intimate room, whose walls were adorned with hand-painted meditator (done originally by Leah as a Dharma Comic), about 60-70 of us sat in semi circles -- including several kids, who meditated the whole hour and attend regularly. Few other Awakin hosts from other spaces (and I) shared stories about the power of circles. The space, the ambiance, the rooftop meal, late night star-lit conversations … it all made for an evening filled with kinship.
A common meme is emerging around Awakin Circles -- slow stories. We all know fast stories, quick feedback loops, that are perfectly byte-sized for Twitter's 128 characters or Facebook's feed and Whatsapp forwards. But slow stories are totally different and sometimes take a decade to awaken. Awakin Circles are full of them.
