Gummy Bears at Church

October 24, 2016

Speaking to couple hundred church ministers at Association for Global New Thought is always a delight, because they take ideas and spread them like wildflowers.  Roger Teel, at Mile-Hi Church in Denver, said he has been an avid subscriber to DailyGood for years and he often uses those stories for this church sermons.  Many others said the same thing about KarmaTube, Awakin Calls, KindSpring.

By the end, we were dancing it up to Faith Rivera's 'This Little Light of Mine' rendition:

In my workshop on "Creating Social Change Without Money" (where Bonnie also spoke!) there were tons of ideas that people shared. One gentleman, in his thick Brooklyn accent, shared, "I was a cocaine addict, and homeless for years.  No one would even look at me.  Then, I turned my life around. I've been married 26 years, and have grown kids.  I routinely help homeless people but I want to spread the project and make it bigger.  What do you think?"

It opened up a great dialogue around branding versus ripple effect, scale versus decentralization. :)  Afterwards, he came up to me and offered me gummy bears that he offers to the homeless every week.  He asked if I could help him by reading a couple pages he'd written -- I said, "Sure," and he hugged me again with tears in his eyes.

A very tender moment.

I have a feeling that these are the moments that I'll remember on my deathbed.
