Disruptive Social Innovation

The ever-so-inspiring Sujatha Baliga and I were at the Berkeley Rep Theatre today, speaking at the IdeaFest. People seemed to enjoy our reflections on moving beyond "nonprofit industrial complex" but I think they mostly LOVED that I requested Sujatha to sing a gospel song -- "If This is the Last Time." Here's my favorite Sujatha quote from the day ...

"When cooking crabs, you don't need to put a lid on it because if one crab tries to get out, others will drag it down. Doing this work, people often think of us 'crabs in a pot', that these feminists, these activists, they'll drag each other down. Even if there was some truth to that, we have to go beyond that -- we have to ask who brought the crabs, why are they in this pot, who is cooking them!"
