House-Cleaning

Jul 31, 2005

Rain outside my window
House-cleaning.
Detailed thoroughness
Scrubs every last
Leaf-pebble-roof
Flowers with wet faces
Shining like school-children
And all the day?s discontents
Settled with the scent of redsoil
Rising from the earth better than
Baking bread.

I turn from the window
Inspired

Clear a small corner
Inside

For my heart to sit
Cross-legged
& Grateful.
