Chariots Of Fire

Sometimes you're just on a roll with the universe. After series of powerful events and meetings in Atlanta, I hop into my cab to get to the airport. My cabbie -- Conrad -- happens to be the owner of the cab company. "What's the name of your company?" "Chariots of Fire." "Chariots of Fire?" "Yeah, like in the Bible." Immediately, our conversation goes deep.

For the next half hour, he tells me some of the most riveting, energizing and somewhat mind-bending stories from his life! Like how he wanted to start a catering company but some angels came to him and said, "You need to start a taxi company." "But I don't have money," he argued. They then asked him to go a specific address and ask for the money. He did and that gentleman invested $150 thousand to help him start. "And he wasn't even Christian," he added.

This wasn't a one off story; one got the sense that this was just his life. On Sundays, he ministers at a Church but his experience of Christianity makes him very interfaith. "It's all pointing to the same thing." Since this was a person living into his deep truth, I asked him nuanced questions. "How do you know the difference between an angel and devil?" "They look the same, so you have to be careful because only an angel is virtuous." "What's the difference between God and Angels?" "Angels sometimes help you, but always guide you to God. God is formless, wordless, beyond concepts." "What do you do when you get stuck?" "The Bible always speaks to me."

As we unloading bags at the airport, I ask, "Shall we see what God is telling us right now?" He happily opens up the Bible, shuffles to a random page, and like a kid closes his eyes and points his long index finger to a phrase on a page. It said something like, "I give my love equally to all life." We hugged at least a dozen times, by the airport curb-side, as I handed him a heart-shaped stone that was in my bag. "This is a gift from God," he added with yet another hug. Meeting him certainly felt like a gift to me.
